The main menu

Press "Start" to enter the program and start your selected situation, this will show you the program main screen.
When you move your mouse to the upper part of the screen the main menu will appear.


The main menu has access to all functions of the program, these include:

Game - loading a situation, saving a situation, exit the program.

View - showes the different screens of the programs and the toolbars for normal operation and scene editing.

Robot - loads robots, programs and components, edits robots, programs and components.

Options - Allows you to adjust settings for the video, sound, joystick and the graphics of the program.

Help - Shows you the keys used in the program and the information about this program and your serial number.


Controls and keys

Robot Simulator has three modes of input :
click and drag of the mouse, using the joystick and using the keyboard.

These are the keys used by the program to activate all of these functions:

Robot and program:
F1 - show program help
F2 - change camera view
F3 - lower sim rate
F4 - increase sim rate
F5 - run/stop program
F6 - step program
F7 - stop and reset axes
F8 - restart program
F9 - show screen layouts
F10 - pause simulation
F11 - show/hide output

Shift + F5 - run in debug mode
Shift + F6 - step in debug mode
Shift + F7 - reset axes and robot position
Shift + F8 - reset program and robot position

TAB - switch between robots

Dialogs and screens:
A - show axes of robot
S - show schematic view
P - show program
D - show program data
L - show output log
O - show options
K - show keys
T - show toolbar
E - show edit bar

Escape - close dialog / exit program
Camera controls:
Mouse + left button - slew camera
Mouse + right button - pan camera
Mouse + mousewheel - zoom camera

Z - zoom in
X - zoom out

Home - move forward
End - move back

PageDn - lower camera
PageUp - raise camera

Numkey5 - center view
Numkey4 - pan left
Numkey6 - pan right
Numkey8 - pan up
Numkey2 - pan down
Numkey9 - move forward
Numkey7 - move back

Using the mouse

Robot Simulator is very intuitive to use, any control on any panel can be manipulated using the left mouse button, the direction of view can be rotated in all directions using the right mouse button, moving forwards or back is done by dragging the left mouse button, zooming in or out by rotating the mouse wheel.

When the camera is attached to a robot the left mouse button will manipulate controls you pick, the right mouse button will change view direction.

When the camera is free of any vehicle the left mouse button will allow you to move forward inside the scene, the right mouse button will change your direction.

The mouse wheel can be used to zoom in or out.


Using the Toolbar

Robot Simulator has two toolbars, one for normal operations and one for editing the scene.
The normal toolbar is shown by default, and looks like this:

Load Situation - Loads a saved situation or tutorial, creates a new situation.

Load Robot - Loads an existing robot, or component, allows editing a new robot.

Load Program - Loads an exisitng program, copy and rename program, delete program, create new program.

Show Axes - Show the axes of the robot, allows manipulation of those axes.

Show Structure - Show the robot structure in a schematic view, shows values of axes and sensors.

Show Program - Shows the program screen and allows programs to be edited and run.

Toggle Layout - Show a set of screens, switches between sets of screen by pressing repeatedly.

Toggle View - Switches between chase view, remote view and onboard view of the robot.

Edit Scene - Shows the edit scene toolbar, allowing editing of scene objects.

Edit Robot - Shows the edit robot screen, allowing edting robots and components.

Run Program - Runs the program from current position.

Break - Breaks execution of the program, allows resume on pressing the Run button.

Restart - Stops the program and moves point of execution to the first line.

Reset Position - Resets the position of the program and robot, moving it to the origin point.

Settings - Shows the graphic settings screen of the program.

Help - Shows the help screen, containing keys and controls, program help, and manual.

Pressing the Edit scene icon or the button E shows the edit toolbar.

Add Objects - Loads standard objects of simple types, and places them in the scene.

Clone Object - Clones a selected object, keeping its scale and orientation.

Move Object - Allows moving of selected objects, press Shift + W to select group of objects.

Scale Object - Allows scaling selected objects, select X,Y,Z or all to scale all.

Rotate Object - Allows rotating selected objects, select X,Y,Z to rotate by that axis.

X Axis - Selects the X axis to move, scale or rotate by.

Y Axis - Selects the Y axis to move, scale or rotate by.

Z Axis - Selects the Z axis to move, scale or rotate by.

Show Tools - Closes the scene edting mode, and shows the normal toolbar.

Set On Floor - Set selected objects on floor, keeping their size, orientation and position.

Reset Transform - Restores original scale and rotation for selected objects.

Reset Position - Restores original scale, position and rotation for selected objects.

Toggle Fixed - Freeze/unfreeze selected objects, making them static/movable in the scene.

Delete Object - Deletes selected objects.

Settings - Shows the graphic settings screen of the program.

Help - Shows the help screen, containing keys and controls, program help, and manual.

Selecting objects in scene editing mode:

To select object click upon the selected object, to select more than one press Control and toggle selection of additional objects, to select a window of objects, press Shift and drag mouse around objects you wish to select.
